Tragic Killings in Bushey
On 9 July 2024, former soldier Kyle Marcus Clifford attacked the home of his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt, her sister Hannah, and their mother Carol Hunt in Bushey, Hertfordshire. He stabbed Carol Hunt, 61, then returned with a crossbow to murder Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28, shooting them as they arrived home.
Clifford had entered under a false pretext—returning items to Louise—and killed Carol with a butcher’s knife. He then retreated to fetch a crossbow and lay in wait.
During the sequence, Louise was restrained with duct tape, raped, and shot. Hannah, arriving later, was shot but managed to call 999 before succumbing.

Investigators uncovered chilling signs of premeditation:
• Clifford purchased weapons: a 10-inch butcher’s knife, a compound crossbow, bolts, duct tape, rope, and even attempted to obtain an air pistol, all shortly after his breakup with Louise on 26 June 2024.
• He used internet searches to track Louise’s father’s schedule and even watched videos by misogynist influencer Andrew Tate shortly before the killings—though the jury did not hear all of this evidence due to its prejudicial nature.
His chilling demeanor was supported by recorded conversations with his brother, plus CCTV footage showing his entrance and departures from the scene.
Apprehension and Aftermath
After fleeing, Clifford was located around 22 hours later in Lavender Hill Cemetery, Enfield, where he attempted suicide with the same crossbow. He survived but was left paralyzed from the chest down.
Legal Proceedings
• 22 January 2025: Clifford pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, false imprisonment, and possession of offensive weapons. He denied the rape charge
• 6 March 2025: A jury unanimously found him guilty of raping Louise, rejecting his denials after reviewing forensic evidence
• 11 March 2025: At Cambridge Crown Court, Justice Bennathan imposed three whole-life orders, meaning Clifford will never be released, plus additional sentences: 20 years for rape, eight years for false imprisonment, and concurrent terms for weapons possession
The judge condemned Clifford as “a jealous man soaked in self‑pity” who harbored “utter contempt” for women
