The inquest at Cheshire Coroner’s Court was told that tension between Ms Harrison and her father had built over the course of the visit, particularly over his news-driven discussions and ownership of firearms.  

On the morning of her death, Ms Harrison and her father became embroiled in a “big” argument that included debate over U.S. President Donald Trump, who was preparing to begin a second presidential term. According to evidence from her boyfriend, Sam Littler, the dispute was intense and led to Ms Harrison becoming upset and running upstairs.  

During the exchange, Ms Harrison reportedly challenged her father with a hypothetical question about how he would feel if she were sexually assaulted — to which he allegedly replied that he had other daughters and it “would not upset him that much,” the court heard.  

The Shooting

About half an hour before Ms Harrison and Mr Littler were due to leave for the airport, her father took her by the hand and led her into his ground-floor bedroom, the boyfriend testified. Approximately 15 seconds later, a loud bang was heard. When Mr Littler and Ms Harrison’s stepmother arrived, Ms Harrison was found on the floor near the bathroom entrance with a single gunshot wound to the chest.  

Mr Harrison was screaming and called for his wife. Emergency services were contacted, but Ms Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Background and Inquest Proceedings

The inquest heard that Mr Harrison had a past history of alcohol addiction and had previously attended rehab. He did not attend the inquest in person; his legal representative described the proceedings as more akin to a criminal investigation than a fact-finding hearing.  

According to his statement read in court, Mr Harrison said he had been watching a news segment on gun crime with his daughter and offered to show her his handgun — a Glock 9mm he kept in a bedside cabinet. He claimed he did not understand what happened and did not recall whether his finger was on the trigger when the weapon discharged.  

Despite the circumstances, a Collin County grand jury in Texas declined to indict him on any criminal charges, concluding there was insufficient evidence for prosecution.

Part of Poland’s momentum stems from a melding of investment priorities with structural economic planning. Alongside traditional infrastructure and industry projects, digitalization and innovation are now strategic pillars of national development plans through 2035 and beyond.

Bristol nursery worker found guilty of serious sexual offences against children

A man has been found guilty at Bristol Crown Court of multiple sexual offences against very young children who were in his care at a city-centre nursery — a case described by prosecutors as “every parent’s nightmare.”  

Conviction details

Nathan Bennett, aged 30 and from Corston near Bath, was convicted on eight serious charges relating to the abuse of five children aged two and three at the Partou King Street nursery in Bristol. The offences include:

• 2 counts of rape of a child under 13

• 4 counts of sexual assault of a child

• 2 counts of assault of a child by penetration  

He had earlier pleaded guilty to 13 additional sexual offence charges connected to four of the same victims.  

The crimes took place over a period beginning after Bennett started working at the nursery in July 2024, and continued until his arrest following a police investigation.  

How the case came to light

Concerns were raised about Bennett’s behaviour by both staff and parents before his arrest. In February 2025, a nursery manager named Victoria Tutton reviewed CCTV footage showing Bennett placing his hands down a child’s trousers and immediately reported it to the police, triggering a six-month investigation by Avon and Somerset Police.  

The nursery — which has since closed — saw parents raise earlier worries about Bennett being overly affectionate and “territorial” with toddlers in his care.  

Court testimony and reaction

During the four-day trial, the jury heard evidence from staff and families, and video interviews with some of the victims were played in court. One mother described how her child demonstrated the abuse that had occurred at the nursery.  

Prosecutors told the court that Bennett had exploited the trust placed in him by families and colleagues, grooming children to see his behaviour as normal.  

Next steps

Bennett denied having a sexual interest in children during the trial, claiming his actions were related to his own childhood experiences, but the jury rejected this defence.  

He is due to be sentenced at a later date. The case has prompted questions about safeguarding procedures in early-years settings and calls for a review of how concerns raised by staff and parents are acted upon.
