Tragedy Strikes as Oasis Fan Dies in Edinburgh Ahead of Murrayfield Show

Edinburgh, August 14, 2025 – In a heartbreaking turn of events, Alessandro Croce, aged 30, passed away in his hotel room in Edinburgh just hours before he was due to attend Oasis’s sold-out performance at Murrayfield Stadium.

Croce, a dentist by profession and a devoted local amateur basketball player from the Teramo area of Italy, was well-known and admired within his sporting community. As a former captain and core member of Basketball Teramo, he embodied leadership and sportsmanship both on and off the court. 

The Tragic Circumstances

Reports indicate that Croce suddenly fell ill in his accommodation prior to the concert. Despite immediate efforts by friends and paramedics, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The news of Croce’s passing has sent shockwaves through multiple communities:

Basketball Teramo issued a heartfelt tribute, describing him as a “pillar” of the team whose legacy of dedication and loyalty will be forever cherished. 

Local leaders including the mayor of Bellante, Giovanni Melchiorre, and district politician Gianguido D’Alberto expressed profound sorrow and extended their deepest condolences to Croce’s family—father Paolo, mother Paola, and sister Giulia—recognizing the youthfulness and promise cut short by this tragedy. 

Università degli Studi “Gabriele d’Annunzio”, Croce’s alma mater, conveyed their deep sorrow through a message of sympathy to his family and academic community.

Police Scotland has been contacted for further comment, and official details regarding the cause of death remain pending as the investigation follows due process.
