Tragedy as young police officer PC Bradley Corke dies after crash
A police officer has tragically died following a serious car crash while on duty, prompting an outpouring of grief across Kent and beyond.
PC Bradley Corke, a 27-year-old officer with Kent Police, passed away on Friday after sustaining critical injuries in a collision that occurred the previous evening.
Crash while responding to emergency
The incident happened at around 7:45pm on Thursday on the A20 London Road in Farningham, Kent. PC Corke and a colleague were responding to an emergency call when their marked police vehicle was involved in a collision with another car.
Both officers and a member of the public were taken to hospital following the crash. Despite the efforts of emergency services, PC Corke sadly died from his injuries the following day.
His fellow officer remains in a critical condition, while the member of the public involved is also being treated for serious injuries.
A life dedicated to service
PC Corke had joined Kent Police in May 2022 and was based in Tonbridge, serving communities across west Kent.
Tributes have poured in from colleagues, friends and members of the public, who described him as a “selfless” and dedicated officer. Kent Police said he “gave his life while trying to save others in danger,” highlighting his bravery and commitment to public service.
Investigation underway
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing. Police have referred the case to the appropriate authorities and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to assist enquiries.
