Pressure is mounting on Keir Starmer after reports emerged that around 66 Labour MPs have now either publicly called for him to resign or demanded a timetable for his departure following disastrous local election results across England, Scotland and Wales. The growing rebellion has become one of the biggest internal crises facing the Labour Party since it returned to government in 2024.
The backlash follows heavy losses in the 2026 local elections, where Labour reportedly lost hundreds of council seats while Nigel Farage and Reform UK made major gains across traditional Labour strongholds.
