Former Metropolitan Police Officer Dion Arnold Jailed for 25 Years for Rape and Sexual Offences
A former Metropolitan Police officer, Dion Arnold, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of multiple rape and sexual assault offences against four women.
Guildford Crown Court heard that Arnold abused the trust placed in him by his victims. Prosecutors said he used his status as a police officer to gain the confidence of women before carrying out a series of serious sexual offences. Investigators found that several of the women had met Arnold through online dating platforms.
The court convicted Arnold of four counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual assault. During the trial, prosecutors said the victims repeatedly made it clear that they did not consent, but Arnold ignored their wishes and continued the assaults.
The investigation began after one woman reported the offences to police in 2025. A subsequent examination of Arnold’s mobile phone led detectives to contact other women, with additional victims coming forward to describe similar experiences.
In sentencing Arnold to 25 years’ imprisonment, the court described the offences as extremely serious and highlighted the lasting impact on the victims. The Metropolitan Police stated that Arnold had been suspended from duty and would face misconduct proceedings following his conviction.
The case has renewed concerns about public trust in policing and the importance of ensuring officers who abuse their position are held fully accountable. Police leaders have encouraged anyone who has experienced sexual violence or abuse involving a serving or former officer to report it so allegations can be investigated.
