Noah Woods: Search for Missing Three-Year-Old Ends in Tragic Development
The search for three-year-old Noah Woods, who disappeared after becoming separated from a relative during a visit to a playground in Brantham, Suffolk, has ended with a devastating development.
Noah was last seen at approximately 2:37pm on Tuesday 15 September at Merriam Close playground. Police said he became separated from a relative, reported by several news organisations to be his grandfather, before apparently running down an alleyway towards a nearby new-build housing estate.
A huge search operation was launched, involving specialist police officers, search dogs, helicopters, Coastguard teams, firefighters and search-and-rescue personnel. More than 1,300 members of the public also joined efforts to locate the young boy.
Who was Noah Woods?
Noah was three years old and had been described by police as non-verbal and partially deaf, with an autism assessment ongoing. At the time he disappeared, he was wearing a white Bluey T-shirt, shorts and black Vans trainers with a white stripe.
His circumstances made the search particularly urgent because police said he might not respond to his name.
A community comes together
The disappearance sparked an enormous response from the local community, with volunteers arriving from across the country to help search fields, woodland, buildings and areas surrounding Brantham.
Police repeatedly urged members of the public to work alongside the official search operation and warned volunteers to take particular care around roads, railway lines and open water.
Residents were also asked to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings and review CCTV, doorbell-camera and dashcam footage from the time Noah disappeared. (Suffolk Police)

Body recovered from Decoy Pond
On Wednesday afternoon, specialist dive teams searching in the area recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond in Brantham.
Suffolk Police said formal identification had not yet taken place, but Noah’s family had been informed of the discovery. Officers said the circumstances were currently being treated as not suspicious but unexplained.
The discovery brought an outpouring of grief among the volunteers who had spent hours searching for Noah.
Superintendent Tom Pearse thanked the community for its extraordinary response and said the family now needed time, space and privacy.
