The robbers, aged between 60 and 72, were dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” by French media due to their advanced age and criminal histories. 

Trial and Verdict

The trial, which began in April 2025, concluded with Aït Khedache and seven others found guilty. Aït Khedache received an eight-year sentence, with five years suspended. Three others received seven-year terms, also largely suspended. Two defendants were acquitted. 

DNA evidence played a crucial role in the convictions. Aït Khedache’s genetic profile was found on the bindings used to gag Kardashian. Wiretaps also revealed his orchestration of the robbery and plans to sell the stolen diamonds in Belgium.

Kardashian testified emotionally during the trial, stating she feared being raped or killed during the ordeal. She ultimately forgave her assailants despite enduring long-term trauma.
