Australian Music Teacher Pleads Guilty to Child Sexual Abuse Charges
An Australian music teacher has pleaded guilty to multiple serious criminal charges after admitting to unlawful sexual contact with a male student who was under the age of consent at the time of the offences.
Naomi Tekea Craig, a former music teacher in Western Australia, appeared before court where she entered guilty pleas to a range of child sexual abuse offences. The court heard that the victim was a minor when the abuse occurred and that Craig was in a position of trust as his teacher.
Authorities have confirmed that Craig later gave birth to a child, and police stated that DNA testing indicates the child’s father is the victim. The matter has been treated as a significant breach of duty and trust, with prosecutors emphasising the long-term harm such crimes can cause to young victims.
Craig was charged following an investigation by Western Australia Police, which began after concerns were raised about inappropriate conduct. She has since been removed from her teaching role and is no longer permitted to work with children.
