Child Killer Ian Huntley Seriously Injured in Brutal Prison Attack

Convicted double child murderer Ian Huntley has been left in serious condition after a violent attack inside a high-security prison.

The 52-year-old, who is serving a life sentence for the murders of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, was assaulted on Thursday morning at HMP Frankland in County Durham.

Found in a Pool of Blood

Emergency services were called to the prison after Huntley was reportedly discovered unconscious and severely injured following an attack by another inmate. According to early reports, he may have been struck with a metal pole during the assault.

He was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical or life-threatening condition, with sources describing his state as “touch-and-go.”

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

A Notorious Target Behind Bars

Huntley has long been considered one of the most hated prisoners in Britain due to the nature of his crimes. He was convicted in 2003 of murdering the two 10-year-old girls in Soham, Cambridgeshire — a case that shocked the nation and triggered one of the largest murder investigations in UK history.

Since his imprisonment, Huntley has repeatedly been targeted by fellow inmates. Previous attacks include:

Being scalded with boiling water in 2005

Having his throat slashed in 2010

Surviving further assaults in later years

Experts have long warned that offenders convicted of crimes against children often face ongoing danger in prison, even when housed in protected units.

Investigation Underway

Authorities confirmed the latest assault took place on the morning of February 26, with prison staff and emergency responders quickly intervening.

Officials have yet to release details about the suspected attacker, but the incident is being treated as a serious assault.

HMP Frankland is one of the UK’s most secure prisons, housing some of the country’s most dangerous and high-profile offenders. Despite heightened security, violent incidents have continued to occur inside maximum-security facilities.

Uncertain Outcome

As of now, Huntley remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The attack highlights once again the extreme risks faced by notorious offenders inside the prison system — even decades after their crimes.
