Former Magistrate Jailed for Role in West London Drug Network

A former magistrate who once sat on the bench hearing criminal cases has been jailed after being found guilty of helping a major drug distribution network operating across west London.

Purshotam Dhillon, 59, from Hounslow, was sentenced to seven years in prison at Croydon Crown Court for his role in a criminal enterprise involved in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. At the time of his arrest, Dhillon was serving as a magistrate, a position that prosecutors said gave the operation an “air of respectability.”

The court heard that Dhillon allowed vehicles linked to the drug network, including one containing significant quantities of heroin, to be parked outside his home in Lampton Avenue, Hounslow. Investigators also found that drugs were weighed and packaged at the property.

During police searches, officers recovered drug paraphernalia, digital scales, packaging materials and records linked to drug transactions. Evidence presented in court showed that Dhillon played a supporting role within a wider organised crime group led by convicted drug dealer Hardeep Thind, also known as Harry Singh

The Metropolitan Police investigation uncovered a network responsible for distributing heroin and crack cocaine across parts of London between 2024 and 2025. Detectives used phone datasurveillance evidence and forensic examinations to identify key members of the group.

Judge Mr Justice Cavanagh sentenced Dhillon alongside several co-defendants, with the combined prison terms exceeding 25 years. Prosecutors argued that Dhillon’s position within the justice system helped shield criminal activity from suspicion, while the defence maintained that he struggled with drug addiction.

The case has attracted significant attention due to Dhillon’s former role as a magistrate, a position entrusted with helping to administer justice in local courts. Metropolitan Police officials said the investigation demonstrated that no individual is beyond scrutiny, regardless of their status or profession.
