Yung Filly Found Not Guilty on Multiple Rape Charges in Australian Trial
British entertainer and social media personality Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been found not guilty on three counts of sexual penetration without consent following a high-profile trial in Perth, Australia.
The jury delivered its verdict after several days of deliberation, acquitting Barrientos of three rape charges. Jurors were also unable to reach verdicts on three additional sexual offence charges, meaning prosecutors will decide whether those counts will face a retrial.
Barrientos was also found not guilty of one charge of choking and one assault charge. However, the jury convicted him on two assault charges relating to injuries sustained by the complainant during the incident. Sentencing for those convictions is expected at a later court hearing.
The allegations stemmed from an encounter between Barrientos and a 20-year-old woman following one of his performances in Perth in September 2024. During the trial, prosecutors alleged that what began as a consensual encounter became non-consensual, while the defence argued that the sexual activity was consensual and denied the allegations of rape.
The verdict means Barrientos has been acquitted of three rape charges, but the legal proceedings are not yet fully concluded because the jury could not agree on the remaining three sexual offence counts. Prosecutors will now consider whether to seek a retrial on those unresolved charges.
The case attracted widespread media attention due to Barrientos’ popularity as a musician, YouTuber and television personality. He remains on bail ahead of a future court appearance relating to the assault convictions and any decision regarding the unresolved charges.
